Miguel Angel
Miguel Angel was born in Puerto Rico, raised in New York City and now calls London his home.
Just before returning to Midnight Tango this year, Miguel was the rapping Genie of the Lamp in the pantomime Aladdin which starred Les Dennis as Widow Twankey. In 2007, he made his West End debut as the spandex-clad Ritchie Valens in The Buddy Holly Story, singing his 1,000th performance of La Bamba on the 2011 UK tour. In 2010, he was nominated for an OFFIE as best performer for his role in Smokey Joe’s Cafe, starring 80s disco diva Kym Mazelle and BBC’s Over the Rainbow semi-finalist Stephanie Fearon (Landor Theatre). Murder Mystery Musical was a highlight of 2009 when he created the role of Pepe (Best Musical nominee, Edinburgh Fringe).
In the USA, he toured with Donny Osmond as the Butler in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, played Paul and Richie in A Chorus Line (Broadway tour); Jacob in La Cage aux Folles (St. Louis); and a Pirate and Policeman in The Pirates of Penzance (Guthrie Theater). In Dublin, he created and performed roles in several of CoisCeim Dance Theatre’s works including Chamber Made (Edinburgh Fringe First winner 2005) and Opera Ireland’s Orfeo ed Euridice (Best Opera 2004). Favorite moment? Winning Ireland’s Eurovision entry for 2008 with Dustin the Turkey’s “Irlande Douze Pointe”.
